जम्मू कश्मीर के पुंछ सेक्टर में तैनात चमोली जिले के शहीद सैनिक सुरेंद्र सिंह नेगी का अंतिम संस्कार बुधवार को पूरे सैन्य समान के साथ उनके पैतृक घाट नंदप्रयाग में किया गया। शहीद के बडे भाई सुलभ सिंह नेगी ने शहीद की चिता को मुखाग्नि दी। शहीद सैनिक का पार्थीव शरीर मंगलवार देर शाम उनके पैतृक गांव सुनाली पहुॅचने पर पूरा क्षेत्र शोक की लहर में डूब गया। शहीद के पिता गोविंद सिंह नेगी ने उनके पैतृक घाट पहुॅचकर शहीद सैनिक के पार्थिव शरीर पर पुष्पचक्र अर्पित कर श्रृद्वांजलि दी। साथ ही सैकडों लोगों ने सैनिक की अंतिम विदाई में शामिल होकर नम आंखों से उन्हें श्रद्वांजलि दी। जिलाधिकारी ने शहीद सैनिक के परिजानों के प्रति गहरी संवेदना व्यक्त की उन्होंने कहा कि शहीद सैनिक सुरेंद्र सिंह नेगी को हमेशा याद किया जायेगा। चमोली जनपद के सुनाली गांव निवासी सुरेंद्र सिंह नेगी पुत्र श्री गोविंद सिंह आठवीं गढवाल राइफल्स में तैनात थे। 38 वर्षीय सुरेंद्र सिंह नेगी वर्ष 2005 में गढवाल राइफल्स में भर्ती हुए थे वे अपने पीछे पत्नी और दो बच्चों को छोड़ गए है। सुरेंद्र सिंह नेगी रविवार को जम्मू कश्मीर के पुंछ सेक्टर में शहीद हुए थे।
