जम्मू कश्मीर के कुपवाड़ा सेक्टर में पेट्रोलियम के दौरान खाई में गिर कर शहीद हो गए सूबेदार यमुना प्रसाद पनेरु का पार्थिव शरीर हल्द्वानी के अर्जुनपुर स्थित उनके घर पहुंच गया है । जैसे ही शहीद का पार्थिव शरीर के घर पर पहुंचा तो शहीद की पत्नी मां बच्चे उनके पार्थिव शरीर से लिपट कर रोने लगे पूरा माहौल गमगीन हो गया। स्थानीय लोग और गांव वाले सूबेदार यमुना प्रसाद के इस बलिदान के लिए उन्हें नम आंखों से श्रद्धांजलि दी। शहीद जमुना प्रसाद पनेरु के घर भाजपा प्रदेश अध्यक्ष बंशीधर भगत भी पहुंचे जहां उन्होंने शहीद को श्रद्धा सुमन अर्पित किए। इससे पूर्व आर्मी कैंप में शहीद यमुना प्रसाद को सैन्य अफसरों ने पुष्प चक्र अर्पित कर शोक सलामी दी। शहीद यमुना प्रसाद पनेरु का पार्थिव शरीर गोरापड़ाव के अर्जुनपुर स्थित उनके घर से जहां से उनकी अंतिम यात्रा रानी बाग चित्र शिला घाट के लिए रवाना हुई। जहां पूरे राजकीय सम्मान के साथ उनका अंतिम संस्कार किया जाएगा। 38 वर्षीय यमुना प्रसाद पनेरु सिक्स कुमाऊँ रेजीमेंट में जम्मू कश्मीर में तैनात थे। गुरुवार की सुबह कुपवाड़ा सेक्टर में पेट्रोलियम के दौरान जांबाज योद्धा यमुना प्रसाद शहीद हो गए।
