जंगलों में इस तरह बढ़ेगी शाकाहारी जीवों की संख्या, वन विभाग कर रहा इस तरह की कवायद शुरू
रामनगर : वन प्रभाग के कोसी रेंज के देचोरी रेंज में सबसे बड़े ग्रासलैंड को विकसित करने की कवायद शुरू हो गई है। वन प्रभाग द्वारा जंगल को लैंटाना मुक्त कर करीब 130 हेक्टेयर भूमि पर ग्रासलैंड को विकसित करने जा रहा है। वन विभाग के प्रभागीय वनाधिकारी चंद्रशेखर जोशी ने बताया कि कोसी रेंज में सबसे बड़ा ग्रासलैंड बनाने जा रहा है। जिसमें लैंटाना का उन्मूलन का कार्य शुरू कर दिया गया है। उन्होंने बताया कि देचोरी रेंज में 130 हेक्टेयर में लैंटाना उगी हुई है। जिसके चलते न सिर्फ घास के मैदान संकुचित हो रहे हैं, बल्कि अन्य वनस्पतियों के लिए भी लैंटाना बड़ा खतरा है। क्योंकि, लैंटाना अपने आस-पास किसी और वनस्पति को पनपने नहीं देता। उन्होंने बताया कि जंगल को लैंटाना मुक्तकर पुराने चौड़ को पुनर्जीवित करने के साथ ही नए घास के मैदान विकसित किए जाएंगे. जिससे हाथियों को जंगल में ही पर्याप्त मात्रा में चारा उपलब्ध हो सके ताकि वे आबादी का रुख न करें. साथ ही इस ग्रासलैंड के विकसित होने से शाकाहारी जीवों की संख्या बढ़ेगी और टाइगर, लेपर्ड जैसे अन्य मांसाहारी जीवों को जहां प्रचुर मात्रा में भोजन उपलब्ध हो पाएगा।
